penguins, sea lions, and men.. oh my!
Today was a perfect New York day. A picnic in Central Park, tanning on the lawn and then a stroll through the Central Park Zoo. It was there I learned something interesting. Male penguins, carry a pebble in their mouths and present them to a female penguin. If the female bows to the gift, then they are mates for life. On the other hand, male sea lions can have up to 50 different female partners. In today’s crazy dating age, how do you get men to stop acting like sea lions and become more monogamous?
I can’t say that I’ve had much experience with New York men. Even when I am in this country, I still seem to be attracted to international men. Maybe its that when you’ve dated European men, you know that there is something better out there. It seems like American men are more interested in quick and easy in and outs, rather than a relationship. As I’ve mentioned before, this week was fleet week and it was much different than I imagined. Beth, yes the one who always talks about her “not boyfriend” met a sailor and almost ended up bringing him home with her. Although I’m not judging, what makes it acceptable for men, with no expectations of a future to pick up a different girl every day of the week?
I’m sure there have to be some penguin type guys out there, it’s just a matter of throwing out the right pebbles.
